THE question: CEH or OSCP?

+2 votes
Hi guys,

I want to make a career in offensive security/pentesting (name it as you want). I know that apart from real experience it's important to be certified, but I can't make up my mind between those two (CEH or OSCP).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

If you mean Certified Ethical Hacker with CEH then there is no question.......

I made both, and I can only advice you to take OSCP!

Why?

CEH: multiple choice test, boring, not sure about acceptance in the real world

OSCP: hands-on, pratical oriented, and more and more renowned in the industrial world

OSCP for sure. As Fancy said, CEH is just some theoretical stuff not really of any use.

You might also want to consider the CISSP which is still quite theoretical but is by far more accepted and respected than the CEH.

I have read some interesting news around the CEH ... so it looks like they are doing their homework and with v7 it is possible that this cert will become a new level ... we will see :)

for now ... you should do the oscp/e/oswp for pentesting certs
